FLEX FRIDAY💖. DAYS OF FOREST VISITS.

CHAPTER 4

Little Precious still held the neck chain in her tiny hand, buh the man who had given it to her was nowhere to be found. Precious was left alone in the middle of a quiet forest, in the dark and drizzling night. Precious shivered, out of fear, and cold. "Daughter" she heard a call behind her. She turned back quickly "Dad?" she said, sobbing. Behind her was a woman who seemed to have a glowing skin. Precious wasn't so scared of her nature, she hadn't seen so much in life to know what was abnormal, she just stood still. "Who is it?" Precious sobbed. "I'm your mother" the woman said. Precious knew the woman did look like the picture her father showed her. "Mom?" Precious said. "Dad said to bring you, he is with Kate too" her mother smiled. Precious let her carry her. She would meet her dad again, and she could brag to the other kids in school about her mom.

Steven walked into the class and all attention turned to him. Precious was both relieved and angry as she took her seat slowly. Seeing everyone turn, Mrs Bright looked to her left. "Good morning ma'am" Steven said softly. "You're here now" Mrs Bright said, uninterested. "You're new, why do you keep going missing?" Kayode asked. Mrs Bright was a bit surprised. "This is not the first time?" She asked. "It won't happen ever again ma" Steven replied quickly before she spoke further. "I promise" he added convincingly. "I hope not, take your seat" Mrs Bright said. Steven walked to his seat, before sitting, he took a quick glance at Precious, who did a good job keeping her eyes perfectly fixed on the board Mrs Bright was beginning to write on. He hoped she was curious enough to approach him with questions.

When the closing bell rang, Precious packed her books in a hurry. One, she didn't want to join the bus queue late, two, she couldn't afford to be seen talking to Steven in class, she definitely believes that he had been disappearing intentionally after been seen last with her. What did he want? What was he trying proquietimpe had relocated her seat, Precious didn't care why, she never really knew Bimpe.

"Can we talk now that school is over?" Steven stood infront of Precious' desk, she hadn't seen him coming, her attention had been on her books and her thoughts. Precious sighed. "Please no, we have an excursion already" Precious said. "Okay, fine, nothing's going to happen" Steven said. Precious looked at him "That's what I always thought" she shrugged. "Can I have the neck chain back?" He asked. Precious had forgotten about it. She took it out from a side pocket of her bag. "Here" she said. Steven took it. "We'll walk together to the bus line, alright, that way you won't think I'll go missing again" He said. Precious stared at him for a little while. "That changes nothing" she said. "Or I could go missing right now" Steven shrugged. Precious zipped her bag and put it on. "You're a light carrier aren't you?" He asked with a little smirk, referring to her bag. "I don't want to be late to the bus" Precious said, walking out of her seat.

"So, anything you're curious about?" Steven asked, sitting beside Precious in the school bus. "There is enough space in this bus Steven, why would you seat with me?" Precious asked. "To help you lessen your thinking, don't you have a lot of questions?" Steven shrugged. "Why do you keep scaring me?" Precious asked. "How?" Steven asked. "You're not been helpful as it is" Precious eyed him. "I didn't mean to, I thought you'd be used to it, or at least know about it" Steven sobered. "How am I supposed to be used to it or know about it? Just what are you?" Precious asked. "Didn't your mother ever tell you?" Steven asked. "My mother died when I was two" Precious stressed. Steven seemed a little surprised. "Then how'd you recognize the neck chain?" He asked. "I have a picture of my mother, she had it on in the picture" Precious said. "You had no idea what she was?" Steven asked. "Not that I recall" she shrugged. "Your dad never spoke about her?" Steven asked. "My dad's a light speaker" Precious looked away from him, resting her back against the seat she was on.

"Is everyone here now?" Tade asked, standing in the middle of the bus, he was the class representative. "Steven" Kolade called. "I'm over here man" Steven replied. "With Precious?" Tade asked. "Just mind your business buddy, we're here's all that matters" Steven said politely, as a chorus went round the bus, leaving Tade almost speechless. "Every one present?" Mr Graham entered the bus, "Is everyone in, Tade?" He asked. "Yes sir" Tade said, taking his seat. "Alright everyone, stay close, and do not wonder off by yourself, we don't have much time as evening approaches fast, clear?" Mr Graham asked. "Yes sir" The bus chorused. "Good" Mr Graham took his seat with the other two teachers in front as the bus started.

Steven looked at Precious "What religion are you?" He asked. Precious looked at him "I'm without one, I just live" she shrugged. "You don't believe in the spiritual?" Steven asked. "Not that, I grew without a knowledge of it, so..." Precious shrugged. "I thought your father was a christian" Steven said. "Dolapo said he used to go to church until I clocked three" Precious said. "I'm guessing you're christian?" Precious asked. "No, why?" He replied. Precious looked surprised. "Your name's Steven" she said. "And...?" He asked. "It's a biblical name" she said. "Stephen's the biblical" Steven said. Precious nodded, she had always only thought the difference was the spelling.

Everywhere was dark. The only thing little Precious could see clearly was her mother's face that shone. Precious thought she saw people dressed in black, buh her mother told her it was nothing. "Where is this place?" Her voice echoed in the thick night. Her mother took her to a little hut, there was a bed, a small window and a dull lamp. Her mom put her on the bed. "Where is dad?" Precious asked. The hut was quiet. Precious looked around, her mom was nowhere to be found. "Mom" she called with a trembling voice.
