INSPIRED MONDAY: ESCAPE ROUTE.
Divine walked slowly behind her friends as they all headed to to the school hall. It was Wednesday, and it was the school custom to gather all the students for Wednesday talks. A lot of students rebelled against it, buh it didn't change anything. It was a custom, and one in which all the principals who had ever headed the school believed to be good for the students.
"Why are you so slow?" One of the four girls turned back to check Divine as the others stood too. Divine looked up from the floor she had been staring at as she walked. She gave a dissatisfied smile. "Sorry" she said and walked faster towards them. She saw her older sister walking up the stairs, and she was reminded of how much she hated her. It was day time, so she let herself dwell on the hate. In the evening before the dark night, she would pray and ask for forgiveness. After all, didn't the bible say that the savior would return as a thief in the night? That meant that she still had all day to do as she pleased, and the night for repentance.
As they entered into the school hall, Divine was reminded of the incidents happening to her lately. They were mostly at night, the time of her repentance, buh of course, the devil didn't want her to end up in heaven. More than one occasion, she laid on her bed to sleep, then she started feeling the shaking of her bunk. She looked down at her roommate on the lower bunk who was reading a book and Divine told her to stop, buh she said she wasn't shaking the bunk at all. Divine laid again, same thing. She yelled at her roommate and left the room, since then, she started a beef with her roommate as the same thing kept reoccurring, until the night she found her roommate asleep, buh her bunk was still shaking. It was also at night that her sister picked fights with her, and so she believed her sister worked for the devil. It was also at night, when she attended a girl's night bible study that the teacher spoke about the second coming of Christ and tried to change her perspective of the savior returning at night. Divine left the meeting in fury, wasn't that what the bible said? Then what were these people learning and teaching themselves? Divine never went back, after all, she had her bible to rely solely on.
Divine was tapped as the attendance list got to her, she could hear the speaker now. She had been lost in the thoughts of herself and those she truly hated. Now, she paid attention to the speaker, not because she was interested, buh because she could hear her, "If I give you a lecture note, one on which I would ask you questions on in an exam, and you read only the first parts of each chapter, how well do you think you'd do in the exam?" Divine thought within herself, she was naturally smart, this definitely didn't apply to her, buh she still listened on, something compelled her to listen on, and so her sole attention became on the speaker as she continued, "In this same vein, if I pick up the Bible and read a part without making reference to other related parts, I might never get the deep and complete meaning and words that is being spoken to me."
Divine was smart, buh she learnt again, that she wasn't smart in all things. The words of the Lord are deeper than what they appeared as, and the only way to fully understand it, was to read it over, again and again, to meditate on it daily and seek divine understanding to discern it's true meaning and intention. A lot of things could not be understood by human reasoning, and so there is the need to keep a clean and pure heart always, a clear conscience, one free from the judgement ascend wrath of God.
The speaker spoke further "...teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and , lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."
If Divine took these words too literally also, then there would be no second coming because He is already with us. Buh, He is indeed with us, He isn't visible, buh He still is, His Spirit that He left with us. And for once, the need to repent came to her during the day. She could do better, study her maker's word more and aright this time. At least, she knew the truth about the existence of The Spirit sent to guide her and other believers.
